Gwaedregan the Queen of Sorrow

The progenitor of two peoples, one of the Three First for the Celedanis and the Dark Mother for the Akkari swarm – Gwaedregan – the Queen of Sorrow.

Once upon a time, she went to the continental Signum to save the ancient sacred forest from a young race of humans who desired to destroy all others. They ruthlessly cut down the sacred trees for their flimsy little houses and poisoned the very soil with the blood shed in constant wars. Nobody wanted to listen to the Elven ruler, the peoples of Signum did not care about nature and the sacred forest. And then Mother Nature herself intervened, endowing Gwaedregan with unprecedented power. The elf became the instrument of her wrath.

Possessed with righteous anger, Gwaedregan shed the blood of fools who trample on nature, until the sacred forest changed from this poison, becoming a cursed swamp. Gwaedregan herself changed with it. The wrath of the two-faced goddess turned her into a huge, chitin-covered monster. Those few who went with her, and did not run away, seeing what was happening to her, became her first dark children – Akkari.

The cursed, spidery elves take their mutations as a blessing from the Two-Faced Goddess. At least those of them who retained their identity without becoming mindless animals existing only to follow orders.

The transforming power of nature must touch everyone in Signum and beyond.
