Cards, prosperity, two factions

In the previous announcement we already announced that we were working on the second version of Signum. From this developer’s diary you will learn about the main differences between the first and second editions of our favorite game!

Let’s start with the main thing: hero and character cards. Now the player will have to collect a roster of characters in advance, even before the battle, forming his future camp. Unlike the first Signum, where all the characters were mixed into the battle deck, the camp will always lie in front of the player in the open and allow you to withdraw the necessary characters when the player needs it. So how exactly does this work?

From now on, all characters have acquired their own class: gold, silver, and bronze, respectively. Heroes, in turn, got a leadership parameter, which determines the capacity of their future camp.

Example: the hero of the specified faction has a leadership parameter of 2 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze characters. Thus, the player is free to assemble a camp of 10 creatures of these classes and bring them out at will, but no more than one character per turn. Such mechanics will completely eliminate situations in which a loss can occur because the desired card didn’t arrive.

So, all the characters are at attention and raring to go into battle, but how do you get them onto the battlefield? This is still done by prosperity, although it has undergone some changes.
Prosperity represents the value of this or that card. It is a currency that the player receives each turn and increases with the turn of the game. It is for prosperity that treasure cards, buildings, spells, and tactics are now played. Paying the necessary value, for example, the player casts the right fighters of his choice, and some characters have additional abilities that can be activated for a surcharge on withdrawal. For example, the rushing Wolfen will happily start moving in the same turn for 2 extra prosperity points! In addition to the price in prosperity, cards also have an income parameter – prosperity, which will come to the player’s balance each turn when that card is destroyed or voluntarily burned.

We are also working on redesigning the cards and the overall balance of the game. From now on the cards of heroes and characters will indicate the number of dice of gold, silver and bronze type, which must be rolled during the attack, instead of the attack power. Let’s not forget about the new type of damage on the dice: critical hits. From now on, the cards indicate exactly what happens during a critical hit. Someone making it will be able to roll another dice for damage, or roll a certain number of dice, and some will leave the attacked creature without activation the next turn.

Many people have a question: will it be possible to play the heroes and characters from the first edition in the new version of Signum? Absolutely! However, due to the redesign of some of the game’s features, it will be necessary to download characters and heroes cards from our website. With the release they will appear there for free. Without this, unfortunately, it will be impossible to play the second edition.

In future issues we’ll tell you about the economy, new abilities and factions that will be waiting for you in Legends of Signum 2 Warseer. Stay tuned!
